almost as cool as saying 'roadtripping' vs. 'going on a road trip.'
even cooler? this vid is basically a music video for a french electronica group, laquer, whose song is playing in the background.
just fyi, this is not going to be a very significant post. i just don't have any ideas at the moment...

i said i would do it...
tonight i have a mission.
that mission is to find the last significant post Adrienne has made on her blog. she made a joking dare, and i took it completely seriously, like i do most things (unfortunately). so, i'm not only going to find the last one, i'm going to find several, and make some comments - after all, i really have no life right now, so why not? plus, i think adrienne needs something amusing right now, and what better than her friend sarah being ridiculous to bring some joy? instead of emailing it to her, i decided to post it on this blog, seeing as she's really the only one reading it now (and probably will be one of the very few who regularly reads it ever). since this is the case, this blog isn't really much more than a slightly weirder form of email or something. so here it is.
i am going all out and developing a basic-but-ambiguous rating system:
things that make a post NOT significant: (not bad - still worthwhile, just not enough.)
- consisting of only a video or a picture or two.
- consisting mostly or only of a quote or song lyrics.
- containing scary pictures of me.
things that DO make a post significant:
- At least one paragraph of original writing. It has to be a sizable paragraph, too. 2 sentences aren't quite enough. Extra points if it is a bit contemplative. However, a report of goings-on is really great.
- A few key pictures (maybe even a video, if applicable) that correspond with the post, only if they are not scary.
To make things easier, i limited it to the significant posts of 2008. Why? Because, to tell the truth, I found A LOT of stuff there. There actually have been lots and lots of significant posts, contrary to popular belief with Adrienne. (can one person really have a 'popular' belief within themselves? don't worry Adrienne, i'm not accusing you of being a schizo. i'm just bad with cliches. and accent marks.) And her 'insignificant' posts are pretty darn cool in my book. Plus, there's a real history with the blog. She's had it for a while, and has lots of posts to look back on. I could do lots of other little reports, like 'best quotes' to 'funniest phrases' to 'most comment-encouraging.' Really, there's a lot there, so props to Adrienne.
The WINNERS of Adrienne's 2008 significant-blog-post-contest are:
1. Ah, Friday, March 14: this one made it to the top because of the last paragraph. It was reflective and really tied the whole post together. Not your longest post, but that doesn't matter. And the lyrics complement it very well.
2. Summer Daze - June 13: I LOVE the pictures that go along with the post. It's a nice generous update with little pics all throughout, some on the left and some on the right. Definitely has a coolness factor going on.
3. Graduation and New Attitude! Recap and Photos!! - May 30: Two huge events rolled in to one big post WITH photos/links to photos = pretty EXCITING, maybe even revolutionary (the buzz word of the week).
4. One Step at A Time.. - May 10: A nice update, with explanations of your English project (it's forever commemorated on your blog, so you may have trouble if you want to forget about it), plus a movie review. It's a pretty decent blogging 'baby step' if you ask me.
5. Happy Monday! - Jan. 28: I'm liking the theme of days in the titles. =p A nice lengthy what's-going-on-with-Adrienne update, including a couple of cool little pics to go with the post.
6. Hello! - March 30: Upcoming graduation anticipation with pics of the chosen invitations. Also, a few remarks about stuff going on with her family and friends and work.
7. Class of 2008! May 13: this one is really sweet, and has some good pics. Not long, but it didn't need to be.
8. I-O-W-A! - Jan. 3: A nice political update, complete with a cool graphic. :)
9. Weekend Hospital Visit - Jan. 11: No doubt a significant event. The hospital sign looks pretty cool, too.
10. Happy 2008! - Jan. 1: Nice fireworks! And some nice broad, reflective statements re: 2007 and life in general.
Obviously I really judged by length. There are definitely some shorter ones (especially one-paragraph-posts) that could have made it to the top 10. And then there are some that couldn't. Either what they talked about was fleshed out more later, or they contained scary pictures of me (scary-pictures-of-me-post, you know who you are).
B-t-w, Adrienne: you have a cool blog. Cool enough that I pretty much made a late-night-research project out of it.
So, if i didn't get all the blogs you read to post by tomorrow morning, at least i took a dare and ran with it, right?
